Fulfillment
The goal of Luke's Gospel is to give us Jesus - the real deal, in all his goodness, might, and humility. In response, we say: “Jesus, you are the only hope of the world — you are my only hope. I admit my share in the responsibility for the world as it is. Forgive my injustice. Burn out my idolatrous self-reliance. Make me whole. Make me new. You alone are my salvation, and I give my entire allegiance to you.”

Read Luke 3. Answer the 4 Questions: Who is God? What has he done? Who are we? How ought we live?
Why does it matter that John identifies Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s Old Testament promises?
Take a moment to imagine a world where “the crooked roads become straight and the rough ways become smooth, and all people see God’s salvation.” Describe what that sort of world would look like.
What do we learn by reading about the baptism of Jesus?
