Family Promise Rotation

Join Soma Spokane and New Community in serving homeless families who are trying to get back on their feet. Four times a year we get to provide food and shelter for 2-3 families for a whole week while Family Promise provides the case management to help these guests overcome the challenging circumstances that landed them in the Bridges Program. We partner with 13 other host churches in the city in this coordinated effort to help transition families out of homelessness. This opportunity is a great way to serve with your family or people in your community. Contact Kristin Green for more info.

& ALL YOUR FAVORITE PEOPLE :)

We will grill up some Teton all natural gluten-free hot dogs from Costco and we are asking that each of you bring something to share! We are going to make a real potluck out of this! (We don't have a great way to keep items cold or warm so plan accordingly with a cooler or warmer. Bring your food items to the connect table on Sunday morning for directions on where to put your food).

We will have limited seating available, so please bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

FAMILY CAMPOUT

campout.png

CAMPOUT CANCELED

Unfortunately the air quality is still unhealthy, and the forecast is not suitable enough for kids to be exposed to smoke all weekend. With great disappointment we are officially canceling the campout including the group dinner and activities on Saturday night.

More info here.

Campout!!! As a church we want to enter into the regular rhythms of life together. For many of us that live in the PNW, that means enjoying the great outdoors, especially at the lake during the summer! So on the last weekend in August, instead of gathering together at the church building, we are gathering together at the lake!

We have the Buttonhook group site reserved at Farragut State Park in Athol, Idaho, at the south end of Lake Pend Oreille. The Buttonhook site has been scouted out and selected for its proximity to the swimming area and plenty of shade for a hot summer weekend! This is the same group site we have had the past two years!

ACCOMMODATIONS & FOOD

  • We have the entire Buttonhook loop to ourselves. Families can pop up their tent wherever they like. There is room for 3 campers/RV's on a first come, first serve basis (contact Aaron directly to claim one of the spots)
  • Everyone is responsible for their own food except dinner on Saturday night.

COST

  • Kids - FREE!
  • Adults camping for the whole weekend - $40 each
  • Aduts camping for Saturday night only - $25
  • Saturday only (not camping) - $5
  • Your registration fee covers your cost for the campground and dinner on Saturday night. There is also a $5 vehicle fee per night that you need to pay when you arrive at the visitor center.

We have partial and full scholarships available if the registration fee is the only obstacle keeping you home. Please contact me for a discount code! We want everyone there who wants to come!

HOOPFEST SCATTERING

HOOPFEST SCATTERING.png

NO SUNDAY GATHERING THIS WEEKEND

One of the ways we live as a family of servant missionaries is by engaging in opportunities to gather and serve with our city. We encourage everyone at Soma to participate with their family, neighbors or community in Hoopfest by playing, watching or serving!

We’ve also put together a simple document that will walk you through some ideas of how to hand out cold water (a real need at Hoopfest!) and engage people in conversation. Take the initiative to grab a few people from your community and coordinate a time to head into Hoopfest with the intention of initiating conversations and learning the stories of 2-3 people. You can read the document here, and begin to discuss with your community how you’ll put what we’ve learned this year about our missionary identity into practice!

SOMA SCHOOL

SOMA SCHOOL.png

Our vision is gospel saturation: That every person in our region would have a regular encounter with the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed. Our mission is to build a network of gospel communities on mission to make disciples.

Join us at Soma Spokane, with other like-minded practitioners from around the region, and grow in your everyday life discipleship.

Soma School is designed for existing or potential church planters and pastors. Join us for a four-day experience where you will be immersed in our community. During Soma School, you will get to pray for and serve our cities, study the biblical and theological foundations of Soma, reflect on the incarnational responses to the needs of our region, and live with us as family as we learn to embody the gospel as a community.

Application deadline is March 15th.
