Soma Kids exists to come alongside and support parents and guardians in the discipleship of their kids. We strive to communicate God’s Word to kids in a way they can understand, and we desire to create an environment in which they are welcome, seen, known and loved.
Soma Kids
Soma Kids is available during the gathering for kids nursery through 5th grade. New guests may check-in their kid(s) at the connect desk on the main level, then visit the Kids Check-in desk on the lower level for more guidance.
If you prefer to keep your kids with you in the gathering, you are welcome to do so. We offer a bin of quiet toys and books for your child in the Family Room.
Please be considerate, and note that the audio from today’s gathering can be heard in the hallway, Family room and nursing moms room.
Check-In
All kids need to be checked in to participate in Soma Kids. Check-In time is from 9:45 - 10:15 AM. Pick up from class is between 11:30 - 11:45 PM.
Check-in for children registered for Soma Kids happens at the kiosk located on the lower level. Children are placed in classrooms based on their age and classroom capacity.
Soma Kids Team
All of our volunteers are background checked and trained to serve in this role. They all follow our safety procedures and policies outlined in our Soma Kids Handbook.
Soma Youth
Soma Youth exists to come alongside of parents and MC leaders to help them disciple their teens within the context of Missional Communities.
In many ways, Soma Youth is a partnership between parents, mentors, Youth Lead and MC leaders, where all the parties are in consistent communication with one another about what the teens among us need and what the members of the Body can offer. It is an ever changing ministry, where we share the responsibility and joy of discipleship, and recognize the uniqueness and specific challenges and needs of teenage years.
Hangouts
Youth Hangouts are an opportunity for teens and mentors to further connect with each other. Hangouts are designed to mirror some of the MC and DNA life rhythms, but do so in a way that is tailored to a specific age group. Middle Schoolers (6-8th grade) gather twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Fridays. High Schoolers (9-12th grade) gather twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. somaspokane.org/calendar
Sunday Breakouts
Sunday gatherings provide an opportunity for youth discipleship that we do not want to waste, so we have a Sunday Breakout class for Youth (6th grade and up) during the main gathering. Soma Youth helps connect M/Cs, volunteer mentors, and youth in our community.
